Dunkin’ Brands to stay in Canton

Dunkin’ Brands Group said Tuesday that it would remain in Canton despite a competing offer to relocate to the University Station complex in Westwood.

Jason Maceda, a Dunkin’ vice president, told selectmen the business would renew its lease to remain at 130 Royall St. for 16 years. The decision came after a recommendation from selectmen earlier this month to offer the landlord at the property a five-year extension of a 20 percent tax break.

H.N. Gorin, the landlord of 130 Royall St., pledged to pass on the savings to the corporate parent of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins. The company has been in Canton for nine years. The Town Meeting will make the ultimate decision on the tax break.
