Akamai helps companies deliver Web content faster.

Akamai Technologies reported third-quarter net income of $80 million, or 44 cents per share, up from $48 million, or 27 cents per share, a year earlier. Shares of the Cambridge-based company, which helps customers deliver online content faster, declined, however, after it forecast fourth-quarter revenue and profit that fell short of some projections, Bloomberg News reported. Akamai also said its board authorized a new $750 million share repurchase program.
