National Catholic Reporter’s John Allen to join Globe
John Allen, a senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter, will join The Boston Globe next month as a correspondent focused on the Catholic Church, and to explore the launch of a Globe website dedicated to coverage of the religion.
Besides working as a correspondent and “All Things Catholic” columnist for the National Catholic Reporter, Allen serves as senior Vatican analyst for CNN. He is the author of nine books on the Vatican and Catholic affairs.
Globe editor Brian McGrory said Allen is “widely hailed as the best-sourced and most knowledgeable English-speaking reporter on Catholicism and the Vatican.”
“John is basically the reporter that bishops and cardinals call to find out what’s going on within the confines of the Vatican. His inexhaustible energy, supported by extraordinary insights, is legendary,” McGrory said.
