athenahealth beats estimates in quarter

Shares of Watertown-based athenahealth skyrocketed after the company’s fourth-quarter results surpassed Wall Street’s forecasts. Athenahealth provides cloud-based health record, medical practice, and care coordination services. Adjusted income of 57 cents a share was 28.2 percent ahead of the 44-cent expectation from analysts. Net income rose to $13.1 million, or 34 cents, from $5.9 million, or 16 cents, a year ago. Revenue grew 48 percent to $171.6 million. Analysts expected $168.4 million in revenue.
