Verizon Communications, The Motely Fool reported, rose on the strength of analyst upgrades and news the FCC will rewrite so-called Net neutrality rules rather than appeal its recent loss to Verizon in court — part of a battle over the pipelines through which data travel the Internet. Broadband players like Verizon have spent billions to upgrade infrastructure and argue they should manage their networks as they like. They are pushing, for example, to give Netflix faster access — at a cost. Consumer advocates and regulators say Internet providers should not give preferential treatment to companies willing to pay extra.
