HYM Investment Group, a real estate firm led by former Boston Redevelopment Authority director Thomas N. O’Brien, has joined the development team for the 14-acre Boston Landing project being developed at the headquarters of the New Balance athletic shoe company in Brighton.

Boston Landing, which began construction in September, will eventually include a new headquarters for New Balance, 950,000 square feet of offices, several stores and restaurants, a 175-room hotel, a commuter rail station, and a 250,000-square foot sports complex. The sports complex, which is planned to be the development’s main attraction, will include a 200-meter indoor track, professional-caliber training facilities for baseball and hockey, and an NHL-sized ice rink.

HYM Investment Group is currently developing a 2.3 million-square-foot complex on the site of the Government Center Garage on Congress Street and the mixed-use NorthPoint project in East Cambridge.

The Boston Landing project is being developed by NB Development Group. The site, located along the Massachusetts Turnpike near the headquarters of WGBH, is owned by a real estate entity controlled by New Balance chief executive Jim S. Davis.

“We are thrilled to be working with NB Development Group to help develop this area into a vibrant city neighborhood and 21st-century destination,” O’Brien said.
