Flatley Co. to add conference center and cafe to Schrafft Center in Charlestown

The owner of the Schrafft Center in Charlestown is launching a significant renovation of the office complex that will add a new conference center, café, landscaping, updated outdoor seating.

The Flatley Co. is trying to find a new tenant to replace Partners HealthCare, which is vacating 266,000 square feet to move to a new complex at nearby Assembly Row in April 2016. The real estate firm JLL has been appointed the leasing agent for the property.

The Schrafft’s Center is a 1 million-square-foot business campus located adjacent to Sullivan Square, which is slated to receive a series of traffic upgrades and other improvements in coming years. The renovations are planned to help modernize the business park and add new amenities for tenants.

“We believe that the Schrafft’s Center offer a great alternative to tenants who are being squeezed out of other higher rent areas such as Cambridge, Downtown Boston and the Seaport District,” said Flatley Company vice president Bill Bush.

CBT Architects of Boston has been hired to plan the improvements to the office complex.
