Office supply giant Staples Inc., which is seeking to evolve much of its business onto the Internet, said Monday that it is updated key websites aimed at customers in such European countries as Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
The designs look to make it easier for Staples customers to find, buy, and reorder products. “Store fronts have been optimized” for customers who visit the sites via smartphones and tablets, Framingham-based Staples said.
“Staples’ new websites makes it easy for businesses to get the products they need either online or on their mobile devices,” Willem Vos, head of e-commerce for Staples Europe, said in a statement.
Facing intensifying competition, Staples has been looking to reinvent itself, in part by closing some of its brick-and-mortar stores and by trying to become a more nimble Internet retailer.
