New Balance to outfit Costa Rican national teams

New Balance added another team to its soccer roster Tuesday when it announced a deal to design jerseys and training gear for the Costa Rican men's and women's national teams.

"Costa Rica is one of the most successful and decorated nations in Central America and we are pleased to be working with a country with the drive and determination to mix it with the best in the world," said Richard Wright, general manager of New Balance football.

The new deal comes two months after the Brighton company declared its intentions to enter the soccer markets for the first time. The company signed a record deal with Liverpool Football Club, reported to be worth up to $457 million, and partnerships with Stoke City FC, FC Porto, Sevilla FC, the Panama national team, and a handful of prominent players.

Liverpool is expected to reveal its new jerseys designed by New Balance at a press conference on Friday.
