Hamra Enterprises, a franchisee of Wendy’s restaurants, said on Wednesday it has completed the acquisition of 30 Boston-area Wendy’s locations from Wendy’s International LLC.
This sale reflects the world’s third-largest burger chain’s intention to reduce the Wendy’s company ownership to approximately 5 percent, or 315 restaurants, of the 6,500 locations worldwide, according to Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s third-quarter earnings release. Wendy’s International plans to sell approximately 225 restaurants in 2015 and approximately 315 restaurants in 2016.
Hamra Enterprises, headquartered in Springfield, Mo., nearly doubled the number of Wendy’s restaurants it owns and operates, bringing the total to 65, said Eve Metheny, director of brand marketing at Hamra Enterprises. Hamra Enterprises also owns and operates locations of Panera Bread Co., Noodles & Co., and Holiday Inn Express.
