Labor activists plan protest at Quincy Walmart

Organizers and workers with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and other groups said they will stage a protest with around 100 people at the Walmart in Quincy Wednesday morning.

The groups echoed longstanding complaints about the mega-retailer, saying the company pays many employees poverty-level wages, offers insufficient benefits, and have unfairly cut workers' hours.

The protesters are billing the 11 a.m. protest as the start of a nationwide grassroots initiative dubbed "Are You With Us?", which will include actions across the country throughout December. The campaign includes a television ad featuring Walmart workers.

Walmart did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
