One of Greater Boston’s biggest tech firms is relocating its headquarters to Lowell from neighboring Chelmsford.
Kronos Inc., which makes workforce management software, said Monday it will move 1,200 employees who now work out of three buildings in Chelmsford into a 13-story office tower at the Cross Point office complex in neighboring Lowell. The move will take place in 2017.
Kronos, which has been headquartered in Chelmsford since 2000, has been growing fast in recent years. The privately-held company says it had more than $1 billion in revenue in 2015 and hired more than 200 people in Chelmsford. It plans to add more than 200 more in the Boston area this year.
The move is relatively short—basically across Interstate 495. Kronos said having all its employees under one roof will boost collaboration, and the company will partner with Cross Point’s owner - Anchor Line Partners - on $40 million in upgrades.
The 12-year-lease is one of the biggest office deals signed in the Boston area in the last year.Tim Logan can be reached at email@example.com. Follow him on Twitter at @bytimlogan.
