Boston University is planning to replace a parking lot on Commonwealth Avenue with a 19-story building dedicated to studying data science.
The university filed notice this week with the Boston Planning & Development Agency of plans for a “unique, signature” building at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Granby Street, across the street from its Warren Towers complex west of Kenmore Square.
The 350,000-square-foot building will be “designed to bring together closely allied data sciences disciplines,” senior vice president for operations Gary Nicksa wrote in a letter to the BPDA. A university spokeswoman said more details, and images of the planned building, would be included in a subsequent filing with the BPDA.
