A Boston story in 50 words

Erik Jacobs for the Boston Globe

A tractor trailer on Memorial Drive got stuck under a pedestrian bridge in Cambridge in 2009.

Young and with college behind, I drove my VW bug with its over-inflated tires. I bounced down Memorial Drive. Oncoming, a small, yet too-high, truck stuck the bridge. The top peeled back like a can. Too many years ago for a cell phone, I drove on as metal fell loudly.
