Mikhail Baryshnikov and Lesley Collier perform a pas de deux in “Rhapsody” at Covent Garden in London, in August 1980.

In late 1980 I was rushing from Bay Village to a Filene’s Basement sale. Glancing down an alley, I noticed someone descending the back stairs of the old Music Hall. It was dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. Spotting a large, muddy pool at the base, he leapt across gazelle-like, nodded, and disappeared.
