The Big Easy

Michael J. Lee

Drawing on the rich cultural heritage of his childhood home of southern Louisiana, Boston-based designer Eric Haydel unveils “Carnival,” a collection of rugs for Dover Rug & Home that captures the essence of Mardi Gras. The trio of patterns, each available in three neutral palettes, are hand-knotted and carved from wool and silk. “Masquerade” is defined by swirls of a delicate beading, while “Streetcar” is reminiscent of brick-lined streets and rail tracks. Pictured: The rhythmic linearity of “Second Line” echoes the sounds of individual musicians that coalesce into beautiful music. The “Carnival” rug collection available at Dover Rug & Home, 390 Stuart St., Boston, 617-266-3600, www.doverrug.com
