Spring is here, snow be damned. Here’s proof: Tickets are on sale for the annual Friends of the Public Garden’s Green and White Ball. Plan accordingly: Many scenesters don floral gowns and colorful bowties to channel a vernal theme.
This year’s fund-raising gala happens on April 27 at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston. Enjoy cocktails (open bar, of course), passed appetizers, and a three-course dinner in a room decked out in verdant green. Groove to live music from Night Shift — or hover by a dessert buffet — after the meal.
At $1,250, tickets might dent your summer vacation budget. But the funds go toward an important cause. The Friends spend more than $1 million each year on maintenance and park improvement and restoration projects, working with the City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department to protect the Boston Common, Public Garden, and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
Over the past 20 years, the ball has raised nearly $7 million for projects like the renovation of the Brewer Fountain Plaza on Boston Common and the restoration of the Public Garden’s George Robert White Memorial Fountain.
Get tickets by April 20 at friendsofthepublicgarden.org.
Did we mention a dessert buffet?
