Bird sightings across the region
Recent bird sightings as reported to the Massachusetts Audubon Society:
► Boxford: At Crooked Pond, there were reports of breeding songbirds: two yellow-throated vireos, six blue-headed vireos, two winter wrens, and two hermit thrushes.
► Plum Island: At Parker River National Wildlife Refuge there was a brant, four least bitterns, a little blue heron, a glossy ibis, and five purple finches.
► Westport: At Gooseberry Neck, there was a king eider, several white-winged scoters and black scoters, 40 Cory’s shearwaters, two sooty shearwaters, a Manx shearwater, a Northern gannet, a pomarine jaeger, and a parasitic jaeger. An unidentified skua was also seen from the shore.
