Celebrate Mardi Gras in Dorchester

A flight of beers at Dorchester Brewing Co.Dorchester Brewing

Can’t get to New Orleans for Mardi Gras? Try the next best thing: a trip to Dorchester. Really! The Dorchester Brewing Co. (1250 Massachusetts Ave.) hosts a Big Easy-themed fete on Saturday, March 2, with music, costumes, food, and, of course, beer.

DJ’s European Market and Deli will sell raspberry-filled Polish paczki and a Boston creme doughnut anointed the “Drunken Bostonian” for the event. On that note, the brewery will release a limited-edition French farmhouse ale for the party — plummy, sweet, spicy.

Groove to the jazz stylings of the Late Risers, specializing in tunes from the 1920s through 1940s; don your finest Mardi Gras attire (the brewery will supplement with masks and beads); and take breaks with Revelry Boston. The food truck will serve classic New Orleans delicacies: po’ boys, red beans and rice, and jambalaya.
