Night Shift Brewing to open next week with sit-down service, full menu

Openings: Night Shift Brewing opens a restaurant and innovation brewery at Lovejoy Wharf on March 20 (1 Lovejoy Wharf). This is an expansion of the Everett headquarters, complete with sit-down service and a full menu. Pastry chef Lira Mondal has worked at Bistro du Midi, Grill 23, Oleana, and Sofra. Dips, sauces, and dressings are made with Night Shift Beer. Try macaroni and beer cheese, Reuben flatbread with Morph IPA Thousand Island, and caramel brownies made with Whirlpool pale ale. The restaurant has 300 seats, with an 80-seat patio.

“I think we’ll have a different vibe and atmosphere [than Everett],” says cofounder Rob Burns. “Lovejoy is more upscale. There’s no food at Everett except food trucks; it’s more a factory, making beer to get on tap around Boston.”

He also hopes that West End locals make it a regular night out.

“We really wanted this to be an affordable place, with an entrée and a beer for under $20,” Burns says. “This could be a neighborhood, everyday occasion.”

Cheers!

Closings: Davis Square’s Amsterdam Falafelshop (248 Elm St. at Chester Street) will serve its final chickpea at month’s end. The Washington, D.C., export opened seven years ago, slinging falafel and fries with a dazzling array of toppings — garlic sauce, mayonnaise, tahini, pickled vegetables, fried eggplant. Get your falafel fix before March 30.

Menus: Somerville’s Tasting Counter (14 Tyler St. at Dane Street) has launched a $35, three-course prix-fixe menu at its wine bar, making the special occasion destination a bit more accessible. Try spiced sweet potato fries with fermented chili emulsion, sablefish belly, and black lime puffs with goat milk sorbet. Wine pairings are an extra $30. It’s sure to be tasty — Chef Peter Ungár is currently a James Beard award semifinalist as Best Chef: Northeast.
