Landmarks Orchestra throws a party on the Esplanade

Michael Dwyer

Have you ever dreamed of conducting an orchestra or rocking out on the bassoon?

Then visit the DCR’s Hatch Memorial Shell for a Season Tune-Up party on Wednesday, July 10. Live out your musical fantasies with violins, cellos, trumpets, trombones, flutes, clarinets, bassoons, saxophones, snare drums, and a glockenspiel. Step up to a “maestro zone” to practice conducting to orchestral recordings. Or just chill with face-painting and leave music to the Everett High School band, which will perform classics such as the 1812 Overture.

Then frolic at a play space from Knucklebones, take a yoga class with OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center, or try STEM activities at a tent hosted by the Museum of Science.

The party starts at 6 p.m. It’s sponsored by the Free for All Concert Fund and kicks off the Landmarks Orchestra summer performances on the Esplanade. Its free, public concerts happen every Wednesday evening at 7 from July 17 to Aug. 21. For a full schedule, visit www.landmarksorchestra.org.
