There’s no need to drive to Kentucky, or even visit the Colonel, for home-style fried chicken now that Tryst has made Tuesdays “Arlington Fried Chicken” night. The new dinner special ($20 per order plus tax) at the Arlington Center restaurant includes two pieces of double-dredged and ever-so-slightly spicy fried chicken, a generous side of mashed potatoes, a serving of creamy, tangy coleslaw, a crumbly buttermilk biscuit, and a portion of pan gravy in which to dip it all. A single order could easily feed two, but you won’t want to share your biscuit (or anything else for that matter). Although the “AFC” dinner is technically “off menu,” you can order it while dining in the restaurant. But everyone knows that fried chicken tastes better while sitting on a picnic blanket or on your front porch, which must be why Tryst suggests takeout. Offered Tuesdays only 5 to 10 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit several Arlington nonprofit organizations. Call ahead and place your order early for pickup. This fried chicken is hot.
