Needham gets new froyo shop

John Amatucci

At this point, you might think the opening of a new frozen
yogurt shop would be about as exciting as the opening of an envelope. But if the crowds at the new Orange Leaf in Needham are any indication, you’d be wrong. Opening day saw a throng winding out the door and down the street, and the place continues to pack them in. Why this yogurt shop and not the other gazillion or so scattered around the Commonwealth? Franchise owner Gerry Pelissier, who has another Orange Leaf in Canton, and is about to open two more, simply believes “Orange Leaf is doing it right,” with an unrivaled range of flavors and toppings. About the competition, says the confident owner, “We’re going to see a shakeout.” Meanwhile, froyo fans are the winners: Their favorite frozen treat is always nearby. Orange Leaf, 1185 Highland Ave., Needham, 781-444-0200.
