Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe to reopen

Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe in the South End closed in June.DAVID L. RYAN/GLOBE STAFF

Good news for turkey hash fans everywhere: Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe is coming back. Chef Evan Deluty, who runs Stella in the South End, is scheduled to pass papers on the beloved restaurant this week and hopes to reopen it in early 2015. Deluty says the breakfast and lunch menu will remain unchanged, as will the location at 429 Columbus Ave. Long ago a favorite of Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway, Charlie’s continued to draw hungry notables — and everybody else — for decades. In 2013, President Obama couldn’t resist dropping by the unassuming storefront for a cheeseburger and fries. The landmark spot, run by the Manjourides family since the late 1920s, closed in June.
