To remove kernels from the cobs

Set the cobs on the cutting board so they are lying down sideways, not standing. Using a long sharp knife, remove 2 or 3 rows of kernels. Turn the cob so it sits flat side down. Continue cutting rows several at a time until all the corn is removed. Each ear yields about 1 cup of kernels.
