Say this fast: Fox Point Pickles in Providence

(handout)

Zared "Ziggy" Goldfarb started Fox Point Pickling Company in Providence last year and crafts crunchy, tangy, sour pickles in two varieties: garlic and spicy with habanero (about $9 to $11 for 24.7 ounces). He sources the cucumbers directly from farms and makes brine with only fresh garlic, apple cider vinegar, dill seed, and spices. Goldfarb, 38, who calls himself "head pickleteer," started making pickles as a hobby, but when he was laid off from a public relations job, he turned pickling into a business. It is named for the Fox Point area in Providence where he once lived. When the spears are gone from the bottle — they'll go quickly — save the flavorsome brine to add zing to a martini or Bloody Mary.
