Former figure skating champ Michelle Kwan was among a slew of Olympians past and present who attended “One Year Out” this week, a confab at the Park Plaza counting down to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The all-world athletes, including gold medalist Aly Raisman (far right), hockey hero Mike Eruzione, and paralympians Amy Purdy and Heath Calhoun, were brought together by Olympics sponsor Liberty Mutual Insurance. Kwan, who just got married to Clay Pell, grandson of late Rhode Island Senator Claiborne Pell, tried her hand at curling, and looked like she might have a future in the sport. Curling Olympians John Benton and Tracy Sachtjen were also there for coaching.
