Kevin Bright to lead Emerson’s Los Angeles Center

Kevin Bright, who made his name in Hollywood as the executive producer of “Friends,” has been tapped to be the senior executive director and founding director of Emerson College’s new Los Angeles Center. The complex, currently under construction on Sunset Boulevard in Tinseltown, is due to open in January 2014. It will be Bright’s job to form partnerships with entertainment industry leaders to develop programs and create mentoring opportunities. “Emerson is already influential and well-known in Los Angeles,” Bright said in a statement. “The college’s ability to make positive contributions to the industry, to the community, to our Hollywood neighbors and to the city of LA will now be limited only by our imaginations.” He is stepping down from Emerson’s board of trustees, which he has been on since 2003.
