DJ Hardwell spins his way into Quincy

Twenty-five-year-old Netherlands native DJ Hardwell, who got a record deal when he was 14, was the big headliner at the Ocean Club in Quincy on Sunday. He let the Globe hang backstage with him before his gig and talked a little about what got him started. “I was like 4 years old when I started playing piano, and I was like 10 years old when I saw a documentary on the Dutch MTV about Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and all of the Dutch DJs, and it really inspired me,” Hardwell said. “It was kind of an eye-opener. That was the moment I discovered dance music.” Asked what he planned to do after his Boston gig, Hardwell said candidly, “I’m going to sleep for the first two days, three days, and just do nothing.” He’ll be back in the US for Electric Zoo in New York City on Aug. 30.
