Slam New Orleans at the National Poetry Slam finals at Berklee.

Who knew the Hub was becoming the poetry slam capital of America? The just-concluded National Poetry Slam — it’s like the Olympics for people who read or recite their own work — took place at venues in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, and it was the second time in three years that Boston hosted the competition. Too bad it was an out-of-town team — Slam New Orleans — that took home the trophy during the finals at the Berklee Performance Center. In all, 72 teams took part.
