Just back from a successful road trip, Jon Lester and a few of his Red Sox teammates used their off night to raise money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. The event at the House of Blues included a “Hollywood Squares”-style game show featuring Lester and his wife, Farrah, as contestants. The guest list included antiwar activist Carlos Arredondo, Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman, comedian Lenny Clarke, Olympic gold-medal gymnast Aly Raisman, Bruins forward Shawn Thornton, and Lester’s fellow Sox pitchers Clay Buchholz, Ryan Dempster, and John Lackey. . . . Meanwhile, Sox owner John Henry stayed behind in Los Angeles and took a tour of The Los Angeles Times. “Spent the morning at the @latimes. Beautiful Art Deco architecture housing a great newspaper,” tweeted Henry’s wife, Linda Pizzuti. Henry, of course, is about to be the new owner of The Boston Globe. . . . Also making the scene in LA during the Sox-Dodgers interleague series was Monster 99, the onetime Red Sox barber formerly known as LMontro. (His real name is Angel Lucas Pena.) Monster 99 sent us a picture of himself with Dodgers pitcher Brian Wilson and Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes, both of whom have beards that could use a serious trim.
