She’s a (part-time) Rhode Island resident now, so it makes sense that Taylor Swift is helping raise money for charity and to help celebrate a Rhode Island town’s centennial. The Providence Journal reports Swift, who recently paid $17.75 million in cash for a mammoth oceanfront estate in Watch Hill, R.I., has donated an autographed acoustic guitar to be auctioned Sept. 20 during West Warwick’s centennial ball. Proceeds from the auction will support a local scholarship fund and efforts to build a memorial for the victims of the 2003 Station nightclub fire in West Warwick. The singer’s beach house is about 30 miles southwest of West Warwick. Former West Warwick Mayor Michael Levesque helped organize the centennial ball, and says he contacted Swift’s publicist to see if she would lend a hand.
