Designer John Varvatos threw a little party Thursday to celebrate the opening of his new boutique in Copley Place. Varvatos, whose fashion sense owes much to the world of rock ’n’ roll — think loosely tailored suits with boots, leather trims, and heavy layering — was there, and the guest list included Celtics guard Rajon Rondo and Pats receiver Julian Edelman. . . . The Bay State-bred consignment company Second Time Around, which got its start in Newton Highlands, celebrated its 40th anniversary with a party this week at its flagship store on Newbury Street. Enjoying an evening of shopping, mini makeovers, cocktails, and cupcakes were Second Time Around CEO Bill Soncini, founder Dottie Casler, former CEO Jeff Casler, and various fashionistas, including Tonya Chen Mezrich, Christina Pierce, and Sean William Donovan.
