The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has named Olafur Eliasson, maker of large-scale installations and sensory experiences, as the recipient of its 2014 Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts . He’ll get $100,000 for future work, and will have the help of MIT students for his “Little Sun” project, which gets little LED-light suns to people around the world who don’t have access to an electrical grid. Eliasson will be in town for a residency at the school in March and will be honored at a gala during his stay. The Berlin University of the Arts professor just picked up the Goslar Award for Modern Art at the Imperial Palace in Goslar, Germany.
