‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress speaks at Emerson

Transgender advocate Laverne Cox, one of the stars of the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” was at Emerson Monday as part of the college’s first transgender awareness week, titled “Authentic Me.” Cox, who plays Sophia, a trans prison inmate, in “Orange Is the New Black” and also produces and stars in “TRANSForm Me” on VH1, gave a talk titled “Ain’t I a Woman: My Journey to Womanhood.”
