WCVB-TV adds Erika Tarantal to staff

More changes at WCVB-TV. A week after Bianca de la Garza announced she’s leaving the station’s morning newscast to develop an entertainment and lifestyle show,
Erika Tarantal
has joined the ABC affiliate as an anchor and reporter. Tarantal (inset) worked for six years at WNBC in New York, anchoring the weekend evening newscast; here she will succeed Susan Wornick as anchor of the station’s noon newscast. She’ll also play “a significant role” on the “EyeOpener,” according to WCVB news director Andrew Vrees. . . . Meanwhile, congrats to WHDH-TV reporter and crime-fiction writer Hank Phillippi Ryan, whose latest thriller, “The Wrong Girl” (Forge), has been nominated for an Agatha Award for best contemporary novel and a Left Coast Crime Award for best mystery set in the United States.
