Hard to believe it was 100 years ago that Sun Ra, the self-proclaimed visitor from Saturn and visionary composer, was born. Berklee College of Music celebrated the blessed event the other night with a concert featuring a couple of members of the Sun Ra Arkestra, including Marshall Allen, Charles Davis, and Danny Ray Thompson. There to enjoy the festivities was Governor Deval Patrick, whose father, Laurdine “Pat” Patrick, was a longtime member of Sun Ra’s band. . . . A few Home for Little Wanderers teens who are interested in fashion got a chance to meet folks working in the industry last week. Among those offering words of wisdom were stylists from Mizu, Fashion Week founder Jay Calderin, and designers Tonya Mezrich and Luke Aaron.
