The Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770’s new production arm has announced its first theater project. The institute, which consists of the Hasty Pudding Club, Hasty Pudding Theatricals, and the Harvard Krokodiloes, has teamed up with the producers of “Heathers: The Musical,” the new stage adaptation of Daniel Waters’s 1989 dark teen comedy. The musical is set to open March 31 — on the movie’s 25th anniversary — at New World Stages in New York. The movie “Heathers,” starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as high schoolers who decide to knock off snobby members of a popular crowd, became a cult classic. Harvard grad and Hasty alum Laurence O’Keefe, who wrote “Legally Blonde” and “Bat Boy,” gets co-writing credit for “Heathers: The Musical,” along with Kevin Murphy. The cast of “Heathers: The Musical” will perform during Hasty Pudding’s Order of the Golden Sphinx Gala honoring producer David Heyman on Monday at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P.
