Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, writer of 2013’s “The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism,” is actually related to Taft, according to the New England Historic Genealogical Society. The organization — which honored Goodwin with its 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award during its gala at the Taj on Friday night — told her that she’s a cousin of both Taft and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the subject of her 2005 book, “No Ordinary Time.”
