A few of Robert Brustein’s many friends toasted the American Repertory Theater founder at an event on Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend. Hosted by the Vineyard Playhouse and held at the Hebrew Center, the tribute was attended by “Says You” panelists Paula Lyons and Arnie Reisman, Joel and Tamara Buchwald, “Edge of Tomorrow” director Doug Lyman, singer Kate Taylor, poet Rose Styron, handyman extraordinaire Bob Vila and his wife, Harvard Business School’s Diana Barrett, and actor Tony Shalhoub and his wife, Brooke Adams. Brustein is a longtime supporter of the Hebrew Center and the newly restored Playhouse, which now has a dressing room named for the celebrated producer and playwright. Shalhoub paid Brustein a considerable compliment, saying “I owe my career, if not my whole life, to Bob. Without him, I would have been lost at sea.”
