UFC star Conor McGregor dropped by Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston for a meet and greet with wannabe boxers. Meeting with the Dublin-born mixed martial artist were members of youth boxing programs affiliated with Welch’s, Charlestown Against Drugs, the Curley Community Center, and the Boston Police Athletic League. Also there was Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey, boxer Jason Quigley, and the amateur fighters competing in the upcoming Battle of the Bay, a fund-raiser for the Let’s Stop Cancer Now Foundation. McGregor will be the main event at TD Garden Jan. 18 when he takes on Dennis Siver in a five-round featherweight bout.
