The folks at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum wrapped up its largest-ever fund-raising campaign — $180 million for building and endowment efforts — with a special VIP reception the other night. The total includes $114 million for the new building designed by celebrated architect Renzo Piano and $50 million for new endowments. (The remaining funds support restoration projects in the historic building, including the renovation of the Tapestry Room and redesign of the Monk’s Garden. Guests and benefactors included Barbara and Amos Hostetter, Nina and David Fialkow, Cindy and Ollie Curme, Katherine Chapman Stemberg and Tom Stemberg, Tom and Kate Gilbane, Corinne Grousbeck, Steve Kidder, “Wicked” author Gregory Maguire, a Gardner Museum artist-in-residence, Simone Winston, Paul and Katie Buttenwieser, and many more.
