Except perhaps for the “stay weird, stay different” acceptance speech by “Imitation Game” screenwriter Graham Moore , the Oscars were a bit of a bore. But there were a few familiar faces on the red carpet and at the VIP parties before and after the ho-hum affair Sunday night. Patriots owner Robert Kraft and his girlfriend Ricki Lander (above left), for instance, were hard to miss at the Elton John Aids Foundation Viewing Party in West Hollywood, seated as they were with the host at the head table. (Grammy winner Beck, singer Smokey Robinson, and supermodel Heidi Klum were also sitting with Sir Elton.) From there, Kraft and Lander headed to the Vanity Fair bash in Beverly Hills — which is sort of the Super Bowl of Oscar parties — where the May-December duo joined others with local ties, including Conan O’Brien, Dane Cook, Rashida Jones, Natalie Portman, Sarah Silverman (right), and Mindy Kaling. “Captain America” actor Chris Evans wasn’t spied at the VF party, but Sudbury’s own superhero did have an awkward moment with ABC’s Robin Roberts on his way into the Academy Awards. Roberts identified Evans’s date, Tara Testa, as the actor’s girlfriend, but she isn’t. “This is one of my best friends on the planet from back home,” said Evans.
