The New England Historic Genealogical Society had a jolly good time this week as Princess Michael of Kent — she’s married to the first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II — paid a visit to receive a lifetime achievement award and to speak on her book, “The Queen of Four Kingdoms.” Among those chatting up her royal highness were Genealogical Society president D. Brenton Simons, VP Ryan Woods, Joan Kennedy, British Consul General to Boston Susie Kitchens, Barbara Jordan and Robert Pemberton, John and Carroll Cabot, William and Prudy Crozier, and William and Virginia Koster.

Correction: An earlier version incorrectly referred to Princess Michael as the first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. The princess is married to the queen’s first cousin.
