Finally there’s a trailer for “Black Mass,” the Johnny Depp movie based on “Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI, and a Devil’s Deal,” by former Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.

The film, directed by Scott Cooper, shot locally last year, features Depp as a ruthless Whitey, and Benedict Cumberbatch as his brother Billy. The dark trailer — which ends with Depp letting out the kind of long, menacing laugh that’ll keep you up at night — features Depp speaking in a vague mobster accent that’s not quite Boston, not quite New York , and not quite De Niro.

The montage shows plenty of Massachusetts, including the St. Patrick’s Day scene that was shot in Lynn last June. Barely present in the trailer are Cumberbatch (who shows up for a second or two in the two-minute clip), as well as the women in the film, who include Dakota Johnson, Juno Temple, and Sienna Miller.

The trailer does feature some moments with Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, and Adam Scott. The film comes out in September.
