Sawyer Fredericks , who won the eighth season of “The Voice” in May, said he won’t be playing new tunes during his Wednesday-night gig at the Outside the Box performing arts festival on the Boston Common. He’s been in Los Angeles for weeks recording the material, but for now, those songs are a secret. All he’d tell us about his upcoming album is this: “It’s going to be my music. It’s either going to be co-written with me or written by me.”
Fredericks will perform some of his older music at the show, which is presented by the Boston Film Festival. He said that as soon as he’s done with the concert — which will also feature former local “Voice” contestants James Massone and Noah Lis — he’ll return to his family’s farm in New York for a long-coming week of relaxation. The aftermath of winning a national reality competition is a bit exhausting, he admits. “I’m probably going to be sleeping a lot tonight, preparing for tomorrow.”
