John Williams cancels Pops performances

John Williams has canceled his Tanglewood appearances on Aug. 4 and Aug. 22 because of a back injury, the BSO announced Monday. BSO music director Andris Nelsons will fill in on Aug. 4 and Pops conductor Keith Lockhart will fill in on Aug. 22. Also conducting on Aug. 22 (Film Night) will be David Newman, who has scored more than 100 films including “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” and the recent Diane Keaton-Morgan Freeman movie, “5 Flights Up.”
