A one-woman show about Rose Kennedy has its lead. Kathleen Chalfant, a veteran stage actress who earned a Tony nomination in 1993 for her role in Tony Kushner’s “Angels in America,” will play the Kennedy family matriarch in “Rose.” The play, which will premiere in New York this fall, was written by Laurence Leamer, the author of three books about the Kennedys, including “The Kennedy Women.” According to The New York Times, Leamer’s play is partially based on 40 hours of interviews that Kennedy recorded for her 1974 autobiography, “Times to Remember.” She died in 1995 at 104.
