Former “Good Morning America” host and author Joan Lunden spoke at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute dinner at The Westin Copley Place. More than 300 people attended the annual Joint Visiting Committee Dinner to hear about the latest scientific and clinical advances at Dana-Farber. . . . The Boston Asian American Film Festival kicked off at the Brattle, and actor, co-writer, and co-producer Chris Dinh of “Crush the Skull” was on the red carpet. . . . Former Emerson College president Jackie Liebergott was honored with the ADL Women of Valor Award by the Anti-Defamation League New England the other day. Cheering her on were Boston’s former first lady Angela Menino, Susan Lewis Solomont, and Suffolk University president Margaret McKenna. . . . “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” author Michael Pollan received the Brad Washburn Award from the Museum of Science in recognition of his contribution toward public understanding and appreciation of science. Among Pollan’s words of wisdom: Don’t buy food where you buy fuel for your car.
