This year’s big local movies were recognized at the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday. The Hollywood Breakout Actor Award was presented to Joel Edgerton for his performance as John Connolly in “Black Mass.” (He was feted by his costars, Johnny Depp, who plays James “Whitey” Bulger in the film, and Dakota Johnson, who plays Lindsey Cyr). Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer, who wrote the Boston-based “Spotlight,” which comes out this month, picked up the Hollywood Screenwriter Award.
